How do I measure the deadrise angle of my hull?

Measure the deadrise angle of the hull at the point where the transducer will be installed. The simplest way is to use a digital level or an angle finder which is available through Gemeco by calling 803-693-0777. These devices display the angle when laid against the hull. There is also an iPhone app called Basic Angle Finder that turns your phone into a digital level. Other tools can be used such as a bubble level and protractor, or a combination square.

To use a combination square, measure the level run and rise of the hull.

Please refer to the chart below to identify the hull's deadrise angle.
Deadrise Angle = arctan( rise/run )
